The meaning of quote

1. "A student is not a vessel to be filled but a lamp to be lighted."
We should not use the cram way on the students but inspire them.

2. "Nine-tenths of education is encouragement."
Most educations are beneficent.

3. "To educate a man in mind and not in morals is to educate a menace to society."
It is better to deucate a man in morals tham in mind or he can not distinguish right or wrong.

4. "I pay the schoolmaster, but it is the other boys who educate my son."
Not every schoolmaster is good at teaching, maybe he knows less than or act likes your son.
